Dreamcatchers Grand Opening

Dreamcatchers Clinton County is celebrating its grand opening from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Darlene's Country Cottage in Renovo. The event features a balloon release, free child abuse education tools and provides the community the opportunity to speak with Dreamcatchers President Donna Kshir, and learn the importance of child abuse education and awareness. Area residents are invited to attend the free grand opening event. Dreamcatchers Clinton County is located at 500 Erie Ave., Renovo, inside Darlene's Country Cottage, which is among area restaurants to be named in Volume Two of the restaurant guide, "Going Local." Owner Darlene Mills of Summerson's Mountain has opened her Christian-orientated family restaurant to Dreamcatchers to provide appropriate office space to help the nonprofit better serve the community. Kshir and her Michigan co-writer Sandra Potter have worked to open a branch office in Clinton County. With Jerry Sandusky's conviction on 45 counts of child sexual abuse, Kshir believes more than ever, Dreamcatchers is needed in Clinton County. "I see the Sandusky case as the most vile of crimes against children in Pennsylvania history," Kshir said. "I strongly believe Dreamcatchers is needed in even the smallest of communities, such as Renovo. "Sandi and I are grateful to Darlene. She has given us a wonderful opportunity. We feel truly blessed." Dreamcatchers is made up of a small team of dedicated child abuse advocates. Its goal is to educate the public on every aspect of child abuse in efforts to reduce the number of children affected by child abuse and neglect, serving more than 75,000 individuals in need or crisis last year.
